The Scenario
Imagine you are an exhibit specialist at the Boston Museum of Science. In an effort to better educate the New England public about current environmental issues, the museum director has indicated that she is very interested in developing a new exhibit specific to the general environmental science concepts.Unfortunately, she does not have the time to devote to designing the exhibit and pitching it to the museum board of directors. Your proposal must cover EACH of the above core concepts.As a result, you will have to submit the following document:Compose the actual written proposal you will submit to the board, including a rationale in which you provide the necessary background information, research, and specifics to what kind of information you would share to the public in the exhibit. Again, your proposal should cover each of the above listed core concepts
Specifics for the ProposalThe proposal will be the document you submit to the Museum of Science board of directors that will describe the exhibit, including the types of information you will be sharing in it.Use the following guidelines when writing the proposal:1) It should be no more than 5 pages in length, double-spaced, 12 pt. font. Less than 5 pages is fine, just make sure you are adequately and substantively covering all of the requirements for the project.2) The proposal should include:An introduction (1-2 paragraphs)An outline that covers each of the above core concepts, and includes the key information you should share for each. In other words, this is where you outline the information that would be presented to museum patrons when they walk into the new exhibit. Make sure you are going beyond just listing the key terms you cover, and instead defining them and making bigger connections (as you are doing with the concept matrices).A conclusion and rationale in which you present an argument why your exhibit should be funded. Included in this rationale should be a clearly stated position why the above concepts are critical to providing the public with a foundation for better understanding present environmental issues. (2-3 paragraphs)3) Use the textbook, the library, and the web to provide the necessary information you would share in that exhibit4) Cite all of your sources with in-text citations, and include a reference list at the end of your proposal.
